Cacao pods ripening on the tree in Ecuador

For 5,000 years, cacao was the food of gods and kings — currency, medicine, and whole fruit eaten straight from the jungle. Then industrial food showed up, threw the fruit away, and called what was left chocolate.

We spent years looking for a source worthy of that history. We found it in Ecuador — farmers growing cacao the way it has always been grown, with nothing stripped away. We're two dads who got obsessed with real food, and we're building something we actually feed our own kids.

Direct trade, not fair trade

Fair trade sets a floor. We pay well above it — direct to Jose and the families in Ecuador's Mindo Valley, by name and by handshake. No brokers, no middlemen taking a cut of their work. When growers are paid like the harvest matters, it shows up in the fruit.

"The part the world throws away turns out to be the best part."
